Congratulations to Holly Williams who has been selected in the CCC touch football side to compete later this term.

Well done to the Currie Cup (Boys Under 15) and the Girls Under 15 team who had convincing wins in their first games of the CWWHSSA AFL competition.

Next week, on Wednesday, the Carroll Cup team open their campaign against WWHS at Robertson Oval at 4.30, and the under 15 girls play their second game at 5pm against MDCC.

Thursday - All schools Touch Southern Trials - Year 7/8 and 9/10 Girls and Boys Teams.

Congratulations to Jack Walsh, Will McDermott, Kye Wright, Brayden O'Reilly, and Campbell Tuilakeba who made the Southern Country team to compete at CCC in 2 weeks' time.

Congratulations to Emily McPherson (pictured right) who was selected in the CCC Under 15 Netball Team on the Thursday 5th of May.

Finally congratulations to all students who participated in the Southern All Schools Touch carnival Thursday 5th May. The 7/8 Boys, 9/10 Girls, and Boys teams won the carnival and 7/8 Girls were runners up. All teams now progress to the state final later this term.

NSW Touch Football Regional Titles

Congratulations to Holly Williams (Year 9) and Murray Beer (Yr 10) on their selection in the NSW Touch Football Regional Merit Teams. Holly (16s Girls) and Murray (16s Boys) both represented the West South West Suns in the NSW Junior Regional Touch tournament at Tuggerah last weekend. Each of the West South West Suns teams were selected from a large pool of talented players in the Riverina and Orange districts. The Regional Tournament then placed the Suns against other NSW regions such as Sydney Mets, Sydney Scorpions, Hills Hornets, Southern Rebels and Northern Eagles. Both 16s teams made the Grand Final with Suns 16s Boys defeating Scorpions 6-5 and the Suns 16s Girls going down narrowly to Scorpions 1-3.

Being selected in the NSW Merit Team is a prestigious honour and both players are to be congratulated and commended on their efforts - well done.

Congratulations to other KCC students who also represented their region at this tournament.

Southern Country Rugby League Trials

The Southern Country Rugby League trials were held in Wagga on Wednesday 4th March at Paramore Park. On the day teams are picked for the 15's and 18's from a game between Western and Wollongong regions to make up the Southern Country team to compete at the NSW CCC State Rugby League Championships held at St Mary's Sydney on the 20th and 21st of May.

Kildare had 5 students make the Western Region team after performing well at the Western Trials in Forbes during Term 1. Jack Walsh was our sole representative in the 15's and Will McDermott, Kye Wright and Brayden O'Reilly in the 18's. Unfortunately due to being unwell Campbell Tuilekeba could not trial.

Great news with all boys making their respective Southern teams for outstanding efforts in the game. Due to his performance at the Western trials Campbell Tuilekeba was also selected.

A great achievement for all the boys and we look forward to the NSW CCC selection trials.

Bronte Stewart Is Belgium-Bound

Bronte has been selected in the Australian U19 Development Team. She is one of eleven of Australia’s best junior cyclists who will get a taste of life as a professional athlete when they travel to Europe on AusCycling’s under-19 endurance camp this year. From their base in Belgium, the teenage riders will represent the Australian Cycling Team during a month of road races in May. The camp will give them a snapshot of what it’s like to live abroad while competing in an international peloton, riding on unfamiliar roads and encountering different cultures.

While the schedule is subject to confirmation, it’s hoped the squad will race UCI Junior Nations’ Cup events in France, Switzerland and the Czech Republic. Belgian one-day races, including the under-19 women’s Ronde van Vlaanderen, are also on the provisional calendar.

It's worth noting that good results in the Nations’ Cup would help Australia qualify for more starting spots at its home UCI Road World Championships in Wollongong. This camp will be the first such overseas development opportunity that AusCycling has organised since the COVID-19 pandemic began. “This project is a vital part of our elite endurance development pathway,” said Donna Rae-Szalinski, who is leading the camp for the Australian Cycling Team. “It will provide under-19s with exposure to the European race environment, including larger fields and technical courses. “It will also provide insights into the lifestyle requirements when competing at an international level.

We are excited to be able to provide this opportunity!”

The riders departed for Belgium on May 1.
