Book Week Competitions
The week long ‘Scavenger Hunt’ and word puzzle activities had plenty of people looking closely at the clues. Congratulations to our winners: Scarlett F (5/6); Holly S (5/6); Patrick H (3/4); Olivia M (3/4) and Riley N (1/2).
The winners of our writing competition describing a hidden valley were Ruby M (1/2) and Marli K (1/2). Each was awarded a voucher for the Kyabram Newsagency.
Congratulations to all who entered.
Scholastic Book Club
Thanks again to all the families who buy books through the Book Club flyers we send out. We have had six issues so far this year and it has meant $941.00 of new books for our library. This has allowed us to get many of the most popular books which the students are really wanting to read. There are still two issues to go next term, so keep an eye out, there may be some great Christmas ideas.
Returning Library Books
Could parents please check in with children and the books they are borrowing from the library. We are about to reach the end of term and it is a good time to search for lost books. We are encouraging our students to become regular borrowers and regular readers. These are habits which can benefit them all their lives.
Digital Technology and Cybersafety
The last few weeks of this term in the library, we are focussing on digital technology and cybersafety. Students will learn about collecting and sorting data and problems solving. They will have opportunities to play with coding. You might like to visit the Hour of Code website and see the Star Wars coding we are using this year. https://code.org/starwars There will be items of computer technology on display and quizzes to see what students really know. It is also a time for us to continue to raise awareness about children keeping themselves safe online.
