Year 9 Top End Cultural Immersion
This term, Year 9 students went on the annual trip to the top end. It was a fantastic experience with many highlights and memories the students will keep with them for a lifetime.
The first couple of days were spent in the Darwin area. The groups toured the Darwin City Centre and the Darwin Foreshore. Some of the highlights were The Royal Flying Doctors, the Jumping Crocs tour, and dinner at Stokes Wharf.
After that, all groups travelled to their communities. The students enjoyed settling in and becoming familiar with their new surroundings. It wasn't long before the students were in the classrooms and making the most of getting to know the students and staff at the school. After school, the students enjoyed visiting the many swimming spots and local attractions around their community.
The students had some downtime over the weekend to explore places like Katherine Gorge and Edith Falls. Students also had the opportunity to take part in a cultural experience at Top Didj. They created their own Aboriginal paintings and went hunting for their own tucker.
The next few days were spent back in the local communities. Students then needed to say goodbye to their new friends before heading back to Darwin.
The trip was an amazing experience with lots of fun had by all as you can see from the photo galleries and student highlights below.
We would like to say a big thank you to Michael Mott and the staff who attended for making the whole trip happen.
