Meet The Team
Prep A: Miss Jenny
Hello South Melbourne families and friends, my name is Miss Jenny. I am a Prep teacher at SMPS. I come from England and have lived in Melbourne for 1 year, during which, I have made lots of lovely friends. I have a passion for teaching writing and maths and really enjoy finding out about all of the children in my Grade and their interests. Kindness is very important in my class and I encourage children to talk openly about their feelings and be helpful community members. I enjoy running, dancing and cooking in my spare time and look forward to welcoming the new Prep Grades this year.
Prep B: Miss Shevani
Hi South Melbourne Family, I'm am so very excited to be a part of the community this year and I absolutely love children, learning and teaching. Outside of school, I enjoy playing Netball, running and reading with the aim of reading a book a week this year. Having grown up in South Africa and previously teaching in Dubai for 2 years, I've developed a love for travelling and enjoy learning about and honoring the different cultures of students in my grade. I look forward to meeting and having a chat with you all at some point this year.
Prep C: Miss Jo
My name is Joanna May and I am a Prep teacher at SMPS. I have recently moved from London, where I enjoyed teaching for 5 years. I love teaching writing and like to write children’s poems, mainly about animals, to read to my class. My favourite way to experience learning is by going outside the classroom to learn outdoors, and by going on excursions. In my spare time I like to play competitive sports like netball and tennis. I am also enjoying exploring Melbourne and making the most of the lovely Australian weather!
Prep D: Miss Jess
Hello South Melbourne PS Families, my name is Jessica Hobbs and I enjoy bringing my experiences into the classroom to enable my students to connect their own lives to their learning. A passion of mine is animals. I love the way that they are always happy to see you and love to be around you. I have three pets at home. I have my dog Cludo, my cat Pud and my bird Rafa. They all have their own interesting personalities and I love to be around them when I go home for the weekends. Another passion of mine is food, but I do not particularly like to cook food for myself at home. I would rather go out to a nice restaurant with my friends and family and eat some delicious food. I always choose to eat a pizza if it is on the menu.
I hope you have a wonderful holiday and I look forward to seeing you next year.
Prep E: Miss Sophie
My name is Sophie and I’m very excited to have joined the team at South Melbourne. I am originally from Essex in the UK where I taught for a few years before moving to Melbourne in 2016. I now live just outside of the city with my partner and our border collie, Maverick. One of my favourite things about teaching is the creativity that’s involved and I am constantly on Pinterest looking for new ideas and inspiration. Alongside work, I am a bit of a foodie and have enjoyed eating my way through Melbourne’s many wonderful brunch spots. I also love to keep active and devote a lot of my spare time to running or venturing out on long walks with friends.
Prep F: Miss Nadeeka
Hi everyone, my name is Nadeeka Pussalle and I’m excited to be a part of the SMPS team. My favourite part about being a teacher is learning new things with the students every day. I love teaching reading and watching the wonder, laughter and joy on the students faces when reading a great book. On the weekends I enjoy reading, hiking and being outdoors. Last year I travelled to Nepal and hiked to Mt Everest Base Camp, where I saw some of the most beautiful, rugged terrain. Recently I moved into my own home and have been learning the challenging task of caring for my house plants.
