Meet Miss Carmen
Hello and welcome to our South Melbourne Community! I am very proud to be the Assistant Principal of our great School. It is an incredible joy and privilege to work with our delightful students, families, staff and the wider community at SMPS.
From the moment our doors opened last week there have been nothing but smiles from children (and adults), all displaying beautiful manners as they walked through our doors. A parent spoke to me on the first day about the impact a smile can have. She said, ‘it may be a simple thing, but it is a universal language that speaks to the heart of us all.’ I feel incredibly lucky to work in such a vibrant and diverse community that fills our hearts and souls with positive energy each day.
For those who don’t know me, I grew up in small coastal town called Anglesea along the Surfcoast. I enjoy most forms of music and enjoy going to concerts with my friends and family in my spare time. Growing up in the Geelong region it is no surprise that I follow the AFL and barrack for the mighty Geelong Cats! I can’t wait for the new season to begin so that I can get along to as many games as possible.
I have been teaching since 2005 and have worked in a number of diverse Victorian public schools in the Geelong area as well as a private international school in Dubai. Whilst living overseas for 6 years in the United Arab Emirates, I caught the travel bug and love travelling to new places and meeting new people. I have to say, that experiencing the local cuisine in each new country has also been a highlight and might explain why I have returned to Turkey eight times!
If you see me around the School, please feel free to come up and introduce yourselves. I can’t wait to meet you!
Meet Miss Beth
I am very lucky to work with all the families in the school as the wellbeing leader at South Melbourne Primary School. To me, being a teacher is the best job in the world and I love to watch your children develop and grow to reach their potential. I am originally from the UK but have now lived in Melbourne for 5 years and love it! On the weekends, I enjoy exploring Victoria and going for brunch. I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.
Meet Mr Noel
My name is Noel Creece and it is a great honour and privilege to be the Foundation Principal of South Melbourne Primary School.
I am the proud father of two adult children, Adrian and Alexandra. Adrian is an engineer who has also completed a teaching degree and is working in China. Alexandra is a writer and she is studying her Masters Degree at Melbourne University. She lives at home with her dog, Ziggy.
I love teaching and I adore children. I see in them the bright eyes of the future of our planet. I have worked in a variety of contexts, including country, city and international. I have worked in small and very large schools, teaching students in the range of Prep to Year 10.
When I saw South Melbourne School advertised, I could not resist in having a try. I am so chuffed to be given the opportunity to lead the community and the school. I know we are going to be successful in developing the first multi-level primary school in Victoria’s history. It will be developed to a world class standard. Nothing less will suffice.
I am motivated by children. Their fundamental innocence and trust shows they rely on adults to care for and educate them. This is an incredible responsibility and I take it very seriously. I love the staff that I work with. I admire their commitment, energy, passion and enthusiasm to be their best for the sake of the children. The staff at SMPS is truly magnificent. I respect and admire them greatly.
