This week we had an Olympian come and talk to the students. This Olympian was Kaila McKnight she is a 1500 meter runner and she competed in the 2012 Olympics. Kaila grew up in Meeniyan and went to school in Leongatha. Kaila came 5th in the Olympics she also competed in the 2010 commonwealth games. Her PB is 4:05 which is extremely fast for the 1500 meters. Kaila brought in her Olympic jacket and the shoes that she wore at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Lately we have been working our skills for Athletics Day. On Wednesday we were working on our team games such as Tunnel Ball, Captain Ball, Bean Bag Relay and the Baton Relay. When we were working on these different team games everyone was encouraging and cheerful. Everyone was include and had a good go. Next week on Wednesday we will be having our Athletics Day with no other schools. The teams will be Yellow verses Blue verses Purple. We will be having our individual athletic events first such as High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump and many more. After that we will be having all our team games. Then at the end of the day the teachers will announce the winning team and the best in their age. Go Yellow!

The whole school has been practising really hard for the Athletics Carnival.

Everyone is getting really excited. We have been helping the junior school in many different events that will be held on the day, such as Tunnel Ball, Captain Ball, Bean bag relay and also the running events, such as hurdles and Baton relay. Practicing for the shot put some throws were that big they went into the paddock with the cows. Good luck to everyone in the Athletics carnival.

Enviro Update

We ask parents to tell their kids not to be throwing rubbish like bricks, paper & glad wrap into the cow paddock. We already had to get some rubbish out of a steer’s mouth.  We have been wheeling sand in a rubbish bin to the oval for long jump and triple jump. The school wheel barrow has gone missing since family Fun Night. Unfortunately the rubbish bin wheels have snapped so that is no good.  If anyone has a spare wheel barrow they would be willing to donate to school we would appreciate it.
