Chinese

Year Two students are developing an understanding of Chinese writing, oral communication and an appreciation of Chinese culture. Students learn greetings, counting, weather, Australian geography and Christmas celebrations. They participate in songs, games, chants and a range of cultural activities. Students are instructed in the Chinese Pinyin phonic system and take part in short question and answer exchanges.

Visual Arts

This term Year Two students will explore the limitations of threads and textiles and the process of weaving. They will create a textile piece and use this as part of a Christmas ornament.

Physical Education and Health

This semester in Physical Education the Year Two students will be covering the fundamentals of throwing, catching, ball bounce and two hand strike. Some of the sports covered in these topics include cricket, rugby, baseball, European handball, basketball, netball, hockey, golf, lacrosse and t-ball. Within Health, students will be exploring actions that help make the classroom a healthy, safe and active place.

Music/Drama

This term Year Two students will continue exploring elements of drama and presenting short performances to their peers, using real or imagined stories to inspire performances. They will extend their understanding of rhythms and melody, using them in short compositions. They will learn the Music: Count Us In song and Christmas Carol.
