Parents & students, welcome to Term 4!
Can you believe it? It’s Term 4 already and it won’t
be long before our class of '18 will have completed their final year of primary school and be moving on to secondary school!
SPECIAL EVENTS
We really do have an action packed term ahead of us, with a number of extracurricular events. These include:
- Footsteps Dance Lessons and the Year 5/6 Social
- Bike Hike
- Swimming Program
- Year 6-7 Transition
- Buddy activities
- Year 6 Graduation events
SWIMMING PROGRAM
The 9 day Intensive Swim & Survive program will begin on Monday 19th November. We strongly encourage all students to participation in this fantastic program that is part of our Health and Physical Education curriculum.
HOMEWORK
This term we will continue with our regular homework activities, which include nightly reading, set Mathletics tasks as well as topical Maths and Writing activities.
SCIENCE UNIT - CIRCUITS & SWITCHES
Through hands-on investigations, students will
explore simple circuits and their components. They will also discuss sources of electrical energy, and design, make and appraise a model incorporating an electrical circuit with a switch.
MATHEMATICS
The main topics we will cover this term include:
Location and Transformation & Patterns and Algebra. There will also be a big focus on problem solving and the steps used to solve worded
problems.
ENGLISH
Students will continue to develop their reading skills through our Cafe Reading Program. They will focus on improving their comprehension, accuracy, fluency and vocabulary. Students will also to take part in Literature Circles, where small groups of students gather together to discuss a piece of literature in depth.
During writing this term we will be looking at speech and script writing. We will continue to place emphasis on the proofreading and editing part of the writing process.
