Mini Lessons 9G

Mini lessons provide students the opportunity to build conceptual knowledge in targeted small groups. This conceptual approach uses the 'Key Concepts' present in the Maths Pathway system. Students collaborate in small groups and interact with the teacher directly for the duration of the activity. Explicit teaching of a particular concept which these students found challenging, then takes place. Students share ideas with peers and explore how different pieces of the content relate to each other and further develop broader mathematical ideas. 

The teacher provided differentiated worked examples and then scaffolded tasks to guide students towards building confidence. They then approach higher level questions to assess their understanding.
