Doctor of Medicine Rural Training Stream
Deakin University is excited to introduce our new Rural Training Stream (RTS) to the Doctor of Medicine. Beginning in 2022, the RTS is part of the School of Medicine’s commitment to address the workforce needs and advance the health and wellbeing of regional, rural, remote, Indigenous and marginalised individuals and communities.
Around 30 existing Doctor of Medicine places will be allocated to the stream, which will help redress the shortfall of doctors in rural areas, by recruiting students into the course who live in a rural area and who commit themselves to undertaking their clinical training in a rural area.
