Determining Our School’s Values
Why values are important?
‘Our values inform our thoughts, words and actions. Our values are important because they help us to grow and develop. ... The decisions we make are a reflection of our values and beliefs, and they are always directed towards a specific purpose’. (*)
Over the past couple of weeks we have sought parent input into the review of the school values. We would like to thank the many parents who took the time to provide their thoughts through the survey monkey link.
At our School Council Education meeting, on Monday evening, we reviewed the survey feedback. With so many values suggested, one of our council members, who is a statistician, quickly assigned a scoring system to the order of the values and their priority. The three values that came out with the highest responses were:
1. Respect 2. Resilience 3. Responsibility
The following list includes the range of values that were suggested.

Where to from here?
We believe it is important to engage the students in the values discussion so their input is also heard. Some classes will be involved in categorising and discussing the above values and how they might connect. We look forward to presenting to the school community what they come up with.
