Diary Dates

Harmony Day

This year’s special 10th Harmony Day will be held on Tuesday 23rd of March. It is an exciting day on the Lyndhurst School calendar that our students and community members look forward to.

On this day, students, parents and teachers are encouraged to wear something that represents their culture, or the colour orange which is the official colour for Harmony Day.

After recess, students will be placed in groups and will participate in a range of cultural activities hosted by our teachers. I would like to put out an expression of interest to any parents, guardians and family members who would like to volunteer their time to share a cultural activity with our students. This could be a cultural talk, an arts and craft activity, a dance, a cooking demonstration, etc. All ideas are welcome!

If you’re interested, please talk to your child’s classroom teacher or contact the office (by email) with your idea and your availability on the day, and I will get in touch.

Kind Regards,

Erika Marroquin

We have received new guidelines for gatherings in schools. Unfortunately, under the new guidelines, we are unable to have parents attend our annual Harmony Day Assembly and Parade.

NO PARENTS WILL BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE GYM FOR OUR HARMONY DAY ASSEMBLY AND PARADE

Those parents who are running or assisting with Harmony Day activities in classrooms during the day, can still attend.

Parents who are assisting in classrooms must:

  • Arrive just prior to your activity
  • Enter through the front entrance of the school
  • Sign in to register your attendance
  • Leave the school immediately after you have finished
  • Leave through the front office entrance
  • Sign out
  • Masks are recommended where you cannot socially distance
  • If you are unwell or showing COVID-like symptoms, you MUST STAY AWAY and get tested

We are very disappointed that we are unable to invite parents to the parade. However, we are exploring ways in which we might livestream or record the event so that the community can be involved in at least a small way.

Sunsmart Updates

The Department of Education’s sun protection policy template and SPAG have been updated to reflect current Cancer Council recommendations that sun protection measures be used from mid-August to the end of April.  Sun protection is needed whenever UV levels reach three and above and in Victoria UV levels typically start to rise from mid-August.

School uniform hats are compulsory at Lyndhurst Primary School.
