Assistant Principal's Update

Dear Families, Students and Community Members,

I hope you all had a fantastic long weekend and I would like to congratulate our students on the excellent start they have made to the 2021 calendar year. Our school continues to grow and with it comes the challenges of managing a growing community while significant construction works are taking place on our grounds. A few general reminders for members of the Mordialloc College community:

Compass Access for Monitoring Achievement and Attendance

All parents should have access to the Compass parent portal which gives parents access to the following key information:

  • Permission forms and payment for excursions and camps
  • Real time attendance monitoring and absence authorisation for parents
  • Learning Tasks and Progressive Reporting: to enable you to monitor your child’s progress and results throughout the semester
  • Analytics: access to NAPLAN and school based grade data
  • All previous interim and semester reports
  • Your child’s timetable

Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews and Upcoming Progress Reports

Parent/Student/Teacher interviews will be held in the last week of term on Wednesday March 31. There will be no scheduled classes on that day but students are expected to attend the interviews with their parents/guardians in full school uniform.

Bookings for the upcoming Parent/Student/Teacher interviews will open on March 17 at 5:00pm. Please ensure you review your child’s progress reports (available through Compass on March 12 at 3:00) before booking as well as their Benchmark Tasks/SAC grades through the Learning Tasks tab.

Further instructions will be sent when bookings open and if you are having any difficulties logging onto Compass please contact the General Office on 9580 1184.

It is critical that parents do not share their parent login details with their children.

Valuables and Personal Property

The College has no insurance for personal property so responsibility for all items brought onto school grounds solely rest on the student. Students are reminded to keep their lockers locked at all times, not to share their locker codes and not to bring excessively valuable items to school.

When attending P.E. students are to leave their belongings (except P.E. clothes) locked in their locker. The change rooms are used by a number of classes at once.

Students are reminded to keep their bikes locked at all times and to never leave their bikes at school overnight or over the weekend.

Building Program Update

We hope to have our new Year 10 locker bay in use very shortly which will allow Year 7 and 8 to have their own locker bays and reduce crowding.

We also look forward to our new bike shed being open soon to accommodate the increasing number of students who ride to school each day.

Uniform and Piercings

A reminder that students are required to have black, polishable, leather, lace up shoes with a heel and that only one plain stud or sleeper is allowed with pierced ears, other forms of visible facial piercings are not permitted.

Hands On Learning

We are excited to be continuing the Hands On Learning program at Mordialloc College in 2021 for selected students in Years 7 to 9. If you would like to support the program by donating any materials or would like to volunteer in the program please contact the College Office.
