Interview with ….. Kirsty Field

Welcome to Mount Beauty Secondary College.  Are you ready for your first official “grilling”?

  1. What position do you hold here?
    Business Manager

  2. When did you start working here?
    January 2019

  3. Where have you previously worked?
I have worked at both a high school and a primary school back in Adelaide in Finance/Admin and Business Manager positions. Prior to this I worked in the head office for Department of Education in Adelaide which is how I got my foot in the door in the education system.

  4. Why work in Education?
I love working in a school and being able to interact with the students while working in an administration role. It is so unlike any other office environment and every day is so different! Where else would you be sorting out footballs, having kids show you their artwork, getting their advice on how learning spaces would work, hearing about the play all while processing a bank reconciliation!

  5. Favourite working moment here at MBSC?
I think my favourite moments are happening now. I am so happy we are starting to upgrade the facilities for students and staff! It is such an exciting time and I can’t wait for more classrooms to be painted and we are working to upgrade the desks and seating! It will be so nice to walk around seeing the students loving their learning environments! I also love our new furniture in the office, the room flows so much better and it is great to have better storage.

  6. Has anyone stolen your lunch from the lunchroom?
No.. but sometimes I get on a cleaning rampage and throw out food from the fridge! So hopefully I haven’t ever picked up anyone’s lunch!

  7. Have you skied overseas?
Yes, Austria in 2019 and was blown away by how long the runs are! My husband often refers to this as our snowboarding holiday and I have to remind him it was our honeymoon!

  8. Best ski run?
I love Falls Creek and my favourite run is the South Face by Ruined Castle and Skyline on the Summit. I wish the runs were a little longer though to get my practice in.. This will be my first year back on snow after having a baby so if you see me wobbling along trying to get my balance back give me a cheer :)

  9. Ski or Snowboard?
    Snowboard!!

  10. What language would you like to learn one day? Why?
I would love to live in Italy one day.. a lifelong dream so I would love to learn Italian but I also would love to speak German.. I am not very good at learning languages so I would need to do a class! There are so many apps these days to help you learn but I get very nervous so when I travel I end up making my husband, Darrian do most of the talking!

  11. Place you would like to visit next?
I really want to go back to Germany one day, I cant stop thinking about all the places to explore but back in reality with a 1 year old, we are trying to plan a trip to Melbourne to see the football and go to the aquarium and that will be a big enough outing for a long time!

  12. What are you reading? (book/magazine/website)
I love reading but lately I have really only had time to read websites.. how to get your baby to sleep.. what to feed a baby.. how to dress a baby.. you get the picture!

  13. Favourite sport?
I grew up competitive swimming which lead to the world pool and surf lifesaving and they were my favourite sports.. but as an adult I really enjoy yoga and gym classes.. not so much into sport.. I am hopeless at throwing or catching a ball, so moving to the country when people asked if I could join the netball team I politely declined.. I love the winter to snowboard and have made my husband quite happy strolling around a golf course with him! We have been watching Full Swing on Netflix lately and my goodness, I can’t be the only one who didn’t know how much golfers earn!
