PREP to YEAR 1 CROSS COUNTRY CARNIVAL
On Thursday 25 May, the Prep and Year 1 students took part in an exhilarating Cross Country Carnival. This much-anticipated event brought together our students from the College's early years program, creating a vibrant atmosphere of enthusiasm.
With the sun shining brightly, the Clayfield College grounds transformed into a bustling racecourse, complete with colourful flags and enthusiastic spectators. The young participants, brimming with excitement, eagerly lined up at the starting point, ready to conquer the challenging course that lay ahead.
The atmosphere was electric as the whistle blew, signalling the start of the first race. The energetic runners, clad in their vibrant sportswear, showcased impressive determination as they sprinted across the grassy expanse. Spectators cheered with boundless enthusiasm, creating an ambiance of encouragement and support.
Regardless of finishing positions, each participant was celebrated for their effort. Secondary students and teachers lined the course, showering the young runners with applause, high-fives, and words of encouragement. The sight of beaming smiles and outstretched hands served as a testament to the nurturing and inclusive environment fostered by Clayfield College.

We're thrilled to announce the culmination of weeks of hard work, perseverance, and fierce competition among our incredible QGSSSA autumn fixtures sporting teams, Basketball, Football and Touch Football. The results are in, and the ladders have been finalised, showcasing the noteworthy commitment and determination from our QGSSSA teams.
One remarkable aspect that emerged from the autumn sporting fixtures was the girls' unwavering resilience and ability to embrace challenges. Our students faced physically demanding training sessions, intense matches, and the inevitable setbacks that come with competitive sport. Yet, they persevered, showcasing determination and strength that went far beyond the confines of the sports field. Through the ups and downs, the girls learned that setbacks are not insurmountable obstacles but rather opportunities for growth and self-improvement.
To all the incredible athletes who have poured their heart and soul into this season, CC Sport commends you for your unwavering commitment and passion. You've demonstrated true sportsmanship and have made us all immensely proud.
A special shout out to our coaches, whose expertise and guidance have been instrumental in shaping our teams and fostering a strong sense of unity. Your dedication is truly remarkable and greatly appreciated.

The Senior B and 8B basketball teams have etched their name in the annals of Clayfield College history with an extraordinary achievement in the Queensland Girls' Secondary Schools Sports Association (QGSSSA) basketball season. The Senior B and 8B teams displayed unparalleled skill, resilience, and teamwork as they emerged undefeated throughout the entire season, marking a historic milestone for the college and leaving a lasting legacy on the basketball program.

Australia Reveals Dominant Swimming Team for Commonwealth Youth Games
Australia is set to make a splash at the upcoming Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago, as the nation proudly unveiled its formidable swimming team consisting of ten exceptional athletes. The selection of this talented squad was based on their outstanding performances at the Australian Age Swimming Championships held in April, where they proved their mettle and earned the opportunity to represent their country on the international stage.
With great anticipation and excitement, it is our pleasure to announce that Poppy Stephen, Year 12 student, will be among the representatives heading to the Commonwealth Youth Games. Poppy's incredible performances and dedication impressed selectors, and she is poised to showcase her prowess in the swimming arena at this prestigious event.
From 6 to 9 August, the National Aquatic Centre in Couva, Trinidad, will transform into a hub of intense competition as 35 medal events are fiercely contested. Swimmers from around the world will converge to vie for glory and etch their names in the history books. The program includes a thrilling line-up of individual races, as well as captivating relay events, featuring three mixed-gender medleys that promise to add an extra layer of excitement to the competition.
Australia's swimming team is known for its unwavering commitment, relentless training, and pursuit of excellence. With a proud sporting legacy, these ten exceptional athletes are ready to showcase their skills and make their mark on the Commonwealth Youth Games stage.

Additionally, Mia's outstanding performance has also secured her a spot in the highly coveted Queensland Secondary Schools AFL Team, which will compete at the School Sport Australia National Championships later this year.

Abby Harris Shines on County Girls Under 18 Debut: A Rapid Knock Against Shrewsbury School
In an extraordinary display of skill, determination, and resilience, Abby Harris, a talented Year 12 student and Clayfield College Cricket Captain, recently made her County Girls Under 18 debut for Staffordshire. Facing the prestigious Shrewsbury School in England, Abby showcased her batting prowess under extremely cold conditions, leaving a lasting impression on teammates, opponents, and spectators alike.
Making a mark in her debut game, Abby's performance with the bat demonstrated her ability to thrive under pressure and adapt to challenging circumstances. Despite the biting cold and having to don three layers of clothing, Abby's focus remained unwavering as she took to the crease.
In a rapid knock that electrified the field, Abby played with poise and confidence. Displaying exceptional timing and shot selection, she quickly amassed an impressive 34 runs off just 36 balls, including four boundaries. Her innings not only showcased her technical proficiency but also highlighted her ability to find gaps and capitalize on scoring opportunities.
