Subject Selection Evenings

These evenings will be hosted by our Deputy Principal - Head of Teaching and Learning, Mrs Lakshmi Mohan, in the Upper LRC and the timings are as follows:

Year 8 into 9: Monday, 5 June, 6:00 pm – 6:55 pm

Year 9 into 10: Monday, 5 June, 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Year 10 into 11: Tuesday, 6 June, 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Da Vinci Decathlon

This week Clayfield College participated in the Queensland da Vinci Decathlon. The Queensland da Vinci Decathlon is an interschool competition designed to celebrate the academic gifts of students in the spirit of an Olympic Decathlon.

Lateral thinking is the key to da Vinci success as students are offered unique opportunities to extend themselves intellectually and creatively. The competition places a particular emphasis on higher-order thinking skills, problem-solving, teamwork and creativity.

Students compete in teams of eight across ten disciplines including Ideation, Engineering, Mathematics, Code Breaking, Art and Poetry, Science and English. Our teams proved to be excellent ambassadors for our College. Their success was a combination of weeks of training in the lead up to the event and their teamwork, perseverance and exceptional efforts on the day. We had four teams from Years 5-10 enter over the three days of competition. Each team competed against 27 other schools. Our Year 10 team won the Ideation section.
