Dear Students, Families and Staff,
Recently, the senior year levels (10 and 11s) have concluded their Semester One exams. Congratulations to both students and teachers for all the hard work that has gone into organising, completing and marking these exams. Additionally, the year twelve VCE students have been completing their SACs to finish Unit 3, which is an exciting time.
There have been many remarkable achievements we have accomplished as a school over the past couple of months. The students have continuously represented our school with pride, with the intermediate girls representing our college in netball last Tuesday and the junior boys qualifying for state netball. We are also very proud of our students who broke records at the regional athletics carnival, Isla Hiscock, Archie Elliott, Hannah Plazzer, Sienna Manserra and Iris Sudholz.
With the ongoing challenges we face in today's world, it is crucial for us to stay united and support one another. With the cold weather setting in and COVID rampant many students have been away unwell. We hope that they are recovering quickly with the support of those around them.
There are also many dates to look forward to. With free dress ‘Flanny Friday’ to raise money for Grampians Community Health, followed by a long weekend for the King's birthday. The end of term is approaching fast so we encourage students to prioritise their wellbeing and enjoy their holidays as a break. Of course, it goes without saying, that those students undertaking any VCE Unit 3 / 4 subjects will be expected to set aside some time in the holidays to continue studying.
I have also been asked by the Parent Reference Group, via Mr Raven, to formally announce that this year we will not be taking Japanese exchange students here in Horsham, however we do plan to welcome these students in 2024 and we would like to hear from families who may wish to host. In addition, due to the crowded calendar for Year 10 events, there is no planned camp at Year 10 level.
Together, let us continue to create a positive environment where every student can grow, learn, and flourish.
Warm regards,
Rory Doran
