Alumni Brandon Smart

Alumni Brandon Smart, class of 2017 was part of the IGNITE program whilst at Aberfoyle Park High School and was involved in the school's Coding Group from the beginning. He was one of the first students from our school to publish an app to the App Store.

I have recently completed my Honours degree at the University of Adelaide, and I am currently deciding where to start my PhD degree.

I was able to graduate as the highest achieving computer science student in the cohort with a 7.0/7.0 GPA, and I was able to work as an intern at Microsoft in Redmond, Washington for three months at the beginning of 2020. Publishing some of my Honours research as a journal publication I have spent the last year preparing PhD applications. I was recently awarded a Fulbright Future Postgraduate Scholarship which will fund a full five year PhD program in the United States, which if I accept I will likely conduct at the University of Michigan. I have received an offer from the Max Planck Institute of Informatics in Germany, and I also received an offer for the PhD program at the University of Oxford which I am currently trying to secure funding for.
