SACE Drama presents 100 Reasons for War

On Thursday 30 March, the SACE Drama class presented their ambitious production of 100 Reasons for War by Tom Holloway. An open text with no designation of plot, scenes or characters by the playwright, the company worked diligently to shape the script into a narrative and stage it over nine weeks and countless hours of rehearsal.

Congratulations to the stellar company of student-artists who were in charge of every creative decision onstage, from characterisation, movement, sound, set, costume and multimedia. Their work was gripping and passionate, exploring the everyday conflicts that we each face and performed superbly in a fast-paced, non-naturalistic style. Chapeau!

Upcoming Year 9 and Year 10 Drama Productions

There are two Drama productions scheduled for term 2 – come along to the Aberfoyle Park High School Theatre on Thursday 25 May for the Year 10 Drama performance of I Don’t Want to Talk About It by Bradley Hayward, a poignant exploration of the adolescent mind. Both comic and emotional, students have worked with external practitioner Anna Steen to create realistic and imaginative characters. Entry is free!

On Wednesday 7 June, year 9 Drama students will present their self-devised Commedia dell Arte plays. This traditional Italian theatre style is energetic, zany, and over-the-top, and is the foundation for modern comedy. Having worked with Commedia practitioner Andrew Crupi, the students have created their very own plays and will perform them in the school theatre – entry is free!
