On Tuesday the 23rd of May, marine ambassadors, Mrs Solari, and Miss Do went to Heany Park for the day. As Heany Park is not very far away, we walked to the school. It took us about 15 minutes to walk there and 15 minutes to walk back.
Once we arrived, we walked through the office to sign in for the day. We were taken by other ambassadors to where we were going to learn lots of fun things about the ocean and sea life. The other schools that were also coming to the day were St. Jude’s and Heany Park. Jaqui was our teacher for the day and taught us lots of things about what we can do to present to the junior school at Heany Park. Jaqui taught us about many things that live in the sea and things we can do to preserve the environment around the ocean.
Us ambassadors each got a part to present to the grade 1’s. Neisha got to present what else we could use instead of plastic straws, Eli got to present a plastic bottle and what would happen if it got to the beach. Annabelle got to tell the Grade 1’s all about the sea sponge, and finally, Connor and I got to ask what else we could use at a party instead of balloons, as they are very harmful to sea life.
We had practised over and over, learning our lines until it was finally time to tell the grade 1’s all about what we had learned. Before they came into the building, we all had to sit in our order of when we would present. We all had so much fun teaching the Grade 1’s that we wished we could go back to learn even more!
