Principal's News
Mr Rodrigues
Dear Families,
Thank you all for the many 'Welcome Backs' I had on my return from the Northern Territory. Whilst it was a wonderful experience to be away it was also great to be back at school with everyone at Trinity. A huge thank you to the great leaders I have, Mr Ru, Mrs Marinelli and Ms Varthalis for enabling me to be away knowing that all would continue to run smoothly at Trinity. Thanks also to each staff member for their leadership and support of me being away.
As I presented in last week's newsletter, there were a number of formal objectives of the Principal's Conference, mostly relating to exploring the Indigenous communities in Darwin and Bathurst Island and the Catholic Church's impact in the past and present day. It is difficult to put into words the learning I experienced, however, it did highlight the great need for all of us to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of our Indigenous population.
All the Principals who attended were part of the South Central Principal's network and so we will continue to work together to ensure this learning continues. As part of our program we were lucky enough to visit the Northern Territory Catholic Education Office to participate in an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander induction program. This program has been developed to help those educators working in the Northern Territory to understand more fully the complexities of Indigenous Culture. It is our hope that, some time in the future, a similar program may be offered for schools in the Melbourne Archdiocese.
Road Safety
There have been a number of recent concerns raised in regard to the intersection of Kent and Davison Street, especially as cars approach the school crossing. This intersection is controlled by STOP signs, however, many cars are entering the intersection without stopping and at times travelling quite quickly. The crossing supervisor has advised council and extra patrols will be made at this intersection. A reminder for all of us to take care and to only use the supervised crossing on Davison Street.
Prayer: For Reconciliation
God of all creation,
as we journey together in this Great Southern Land,
we pray for healing, forgiveness and unity,
creating a path of good will, with justice and compassion.
Jesus, through the power of your love, you have given us the courage, wisdom and strength to share our gifts and talents in humility.
In peace and understanding we reconcile with each other.
Creator Spirit, we come together in prayer and thanksgiving for the many blessings we have received. Allow your Spirit to wash over us and give us strength to walk together as one.
School Photos - Tuesday 6th June
A reminder that next Tuesday school photos will be taken. Could I ask that all children be in Correct School Uniform and school shoes, see below. NO SPORTS UNIFORMS. Students wearing the old school Uniform please wear winter uniform.
Accessories such as Hair ties ribbons etc should be burgundy school colour and long hair needs to be tied back. Please ensure hair is neat and tidy for the photos.
Berry Street Professional Learning Day
A reminder again that tomorrow there will be no school for children. All staff will be participating in a Berry Street Refresher program.
AAP (Annual Action Plan) Sharing with our Parent Community
Mrs Marinelli has included, in her Student Learning Page, an outline of how we are working towards achieving one of the Priorities and Goals in our AAP this year in the area of Learning and Teaching. Following our whole school review in 2020 it was noted that, whilst much was in place to support those students working towards standard, more needed to be done to ensure highly able students could be challenged and accelerated in their learning.
Community Calendar - Keep up with our important dates!
Kind Regards
