Principals Message

Education Week

This week at Mount View we have been celebrating Education Week. A highlight of the week was the Open Morning which took place on Tuesday. It was wonderful to see so many of our parents and grandparents in school, joining in with the students, and engaging in the learning. The Year 3 treasure hunt activity which involved map reading, grid references and clue finding was very popular. While all of this was happening I was conducting a school tour for parents of Prep students for 2024.

Year 3 Concert

The Year 3 students were all involved in their first concert last week. Thank you to our Performing Arts teachers, Laura Dimmatina and Caroline Barron, the Year 3 teachers and the educational support staff members who helped the students prepare and perform. I had front row seats for this event and it was great to see the excitement and enjoyment in performance displayed by the children. A fabulous learning experience was maximised by the audience appreciation and support.

Diversity Day Assembly

On Monday 22 May we will be holding our Diversity Day Assembly. Parents and carers are encouraged to come along to the assembly which will begin at 9 am. Students are also encouraged to wear traditional cultural dress on that day. Thank you to our Visual Arts teacher, Angela Pulbrook and our Mandarin teachers Qing Liu, Yan Ping Xue and Maureen Wai for their leadership in this event.

IB PYP Parent Information Forum

Parents and carers are invited to participate in the IB PYP Parent Information Forum which will be held in the Staffroom on Monday 29 May beginning at 6:30 pm. This forum is an opportunity to further understand the pedagogical approach that used within the IB Primary Years Program. The evening will be led by Assistant Principal, Amanda Curtain and our IB PYP Co-ordinator, Candace Middleditch.

Curriculum Day

Thursday 1 June will be a student free day as the whole staff will be involved in a Curriculum Day. The focus of the day will be on Assessment and Reporting.

Retirement

This week I announced my plans to retire from the educational profession and my position as Principal at Mount View. I look forward to completing a successful year

and I will officially leave the position on 1 February 2024. The Department of Education will work with the school to find my replacement as Principal over the next two terms

so that there can be a smooth transition for the school.
