Some of our amazing Student Leaders have written about what it's like learning from home and what it's like still coming to school.

Learning at home

Every day is the exact same as the last, at home doing absolutely nothing. It may seem useless and quite a waste of time, but in fact we are all playing our role in reducing the spread of COVID-19.  Things may have started to look worrying or gloomy, especially when we heard the news about empty shelves, fights in the supermarket over toilet rolls (who would have known!), number of fatalities and about the cases growing. However, on the flip side, we did see people assisting people in ways such as: distributing food, waiting patiently in lines and not to mention the healthcare workers doing an incredible job in curing and saving the lives of infected citizens!

Though, it is not over yet. If we all do what we should, if we all follow the rules, and if we all keep our distance, it will feel worth it in the end. All and all, just think that the boredom we are going through is for the sake of the older generations who brought us to this moment, our generation, and the next to come. As we thrive to survive, as we spread hope and awareness, we will push through to see a brighter day!

Hello, my name is Aiden and I’m going to be showing you the perspective of a student that has to go to school at this day and time. Right now, everyone is going through a tough time due to COVID-19, so now everyone is having to work from home, or do they? Some parents or guardians are essential workers. That means that they have to work, but their kids cannot stay at home because there is no one to look after them, so they have to go to school. Going to school currently is much different than before. Each day we have a different teacher and there is barely any students.

Some students are able to work with no problems, but some are having to problem solve and work out how to ignore these problems that they have. So here are some of the other students' opinions on working at school. Aiden T Year Maramba Vice School Captain

I like going to school now because I’m not having any problems with working, there’s less people, so I’m not getting distracted by anyone and I’m able to get my work completed on time. Also, I get to be on the same table as my siblings. Luka 2M12

I like being at school because If I was working at home then it would be harder because there is no teacher or helper at home that can see my screen and help me. Also, some of my friends are here, so I am not alone. Xavier 34W13

Sometimes I do not really like coming to school at this time because I have to be in the same room as the younger kids so sometimes, I get distracted by the younger students, but other than that I like going to school because I get to be here with my brothers. All of us kids are trying to help stop COVID-19, but we all miss our friends and we all wish that everything will be back to normal. Aiden 6G2
