WRITING COMPETITIONS

KSC TERM 1: WRITING COMPETITION
Do you have a passion for writing stories or poems? Or do you like to create graphic novels or cartoons? Do you have a story you wrote for class this term that you are proud of?
If you have, then you are invited to enter our school based competition for a chance to win a range of great prizes. You can also enter more than once!
For this competition, stories must be no more than 1500 words and can be on a topic of your choice. All graphic entries such as cartoons or graphic novels can be on topics of your own choice as well.
Some of the winning entries will be published in the school newsletter and all entries will receive a participation certificate and a small prize.
Entries are due Friday 20th March and are to be typed in 12 font and submitted to the entry box in the library or to Ms Henry. If you have created a graphic entry, then talk to Ms Henry about the best way to submit it.
WONTHAGGI LIBRARY YOUNG WRITERS COMPETITION
Writing fever comes to the Bass Coast
YOUNG writers of Wonthaggi and West Gippsland are being invited to enter the Wonthaggi Library Young Writers Competition, for the chance to win cash prizes!
The competition, which is part of West Gippsland’s MeetUp20 Youth Week festivities, is open to anyone aged between 12 and 25, and all they have to do to enter is to submit a piece of writing, up to 1000 words long. ‘And it really is that simple,’ said Wonthaggi Library Programs Officer Dan Rosen. ‘Simply write something good, enter the comp, and you could win one of three $150 prizes, or one of the other runners-up prizes, and maybe end up as a published author.’
The competition has been greeted with excitement by young people. ‘I finished year 12 last year and I’m looking forward to writing just for the fun of it,’ said Louise (18) from Bass Coast. And Emma (17), also from Bass Coast, said that everyone should, ‘. . . get your creative gears going, this is not an opportunity to miss.’
Entries need to be in by 5.00pm on Tuesday, March 31 and can be emailed to youngwritersWGL@gmail.com. Alternatively, they can be simply dropped in to your local library, by 5.00pm on Friday, March 27.
Everyone is invited to come to the special awards evening at Wonthaggi Library on Friday, April 3, from 6.00pm to 7.30pm, when the inspired words of the best entries will be read out loud, and the cash prizes presented. Drinks, nibbles and a general celebratory vibe will also be provided.
And remember, you’ve got to be in it to win it!
