Specialist
Specialist Report
I cannot believe we are already at the end of week 3 in Term 4! It has been such a busy year for all of the specialist team and we still have much more to come. On behalf of the team I would like to welcome Mrs Mandy O’Mara to our College, we are all looking forward to working with her and sharing the amazing work we do in our programs and classes.
2019 Bali Cultural Tour
At the end of Term 3, Mr Saunders, Ms VanBraam attended this year’s ‘Bali Cultural Tour’ with 13 year 8 and 9 students to Bali, Indonesia. During our ten-day tour, we visited our partnership school SMP 1 and stayed with the Indonesian families from the school for a two-day homestay. We tried traditional Indonesian dishes, bartered for souvenirs and cycled through rice patty fields. We also developed our sustainability knowledge at the International Green camp; released baby turtles back in to the ocean and established some lifelong friendships (Yes we jam packed a lot in!) All of our students represented the PCC values to the best of their ability and we could not be prouder.
SMP1 Visit
At the beginning of this term the students who attended the 2019 Bali Cultural Tour had the pleasure of chaperoning students from SMP1 (our partnership school) while they visited our college over three days to develop their English language skills.
Putu Natasha Cytta Harsadena SMP1
In the last three days before I returned to Bali, my friends, my teachers and I visited PCC school. The school is really nice, clean, green, interesting, and really fun. I met again with my buddy and it was really nice because I met other students in the class, and we became friends. The class was really fun, and it was quite different compared to Bali. A good difference for sure. I had a lot of fun there; my friend and also our buddies played a game; walked around the school, and I learned some new things. The student council president at PCC was very friendly and don't forgot also Mr Jeff and Pak Gede who always guided and looked after us too. I Love U All ❤
Words with Wings
The excitement is building and the Words with Wings students cannot wait to share their book ‘Rosie Wonders’ with the PCC community and guests.
This project has been a Creative Victoria Learning Partnership with the talented Melbourne artist Kate Gorringe Smith. PCC was also lucky to engage with the Hobsons Bay Men’s shed who built our students
a story telling board that they will use to present their story.
To celebrate the launch of the book they will perform their story to an audience of members from Birdlife Australia, Environmental Education Victoria and Wyndham City Council staff along with their families and friends on Friday 1st November. Good luck and congratulations to all of the students, our very own talented Ms Cairns and the amazing artist Kate Gorringe Smith for all of the work they have put in to this amazing and wonderful project.
Science Fair
On Wednesday 20th November, the PCC Science Fair is happening again in the Science Building from 3pm -5:30pm. Our year 8 students are in the process of developing their science experiments and cannot wait to share them with you. Please make sure you drop in to see things that go, whiz, bang pop and make sure you vote for your favourite experiment!
STEAM Leaders Update
The PCC STEAM leaders have been actively involved in creating a one-minute video to raise awareness of social issues they feel passionate about. “Videos for change” is a program that empowers young people to become leaders and agents of social change. Through this activity, they were able to develop collaboration, creative thinking, critical thinking, civic engagement, communication and collective action. As this program is Australia wide, the popular television show The Project will announce the winning entry.
