Connecting Maths to Real Life
We have participated in a variety of activities to connect mathematics to real life.
Firstly, we got creative ideas on how to estimate the circumference of the stage in the quadrangle. Some groups used rough steps as they walked, some students used themselves as the unit of measurement.
Next, we headed to the canteen, just to measure the total area of all the circle shaped chairs and tables.
We also did a fun challenge where the class was put into groups and had to measure the whole surface area of a ‘Favourites’ chocolate box.
We really appreciated the opportunities to learn and use our mathematics knowledge and skills in such a fun and insightful way.
