Running with Perseverance

This morning our Year 4 – 6 students participated in the Living Waters Cross Country. It was wonderful to witness the perseverance and determination of the students, and the joy and relief as they completed the course. 

Hebrews 12:1-2 tells us: ‘A huge cloud of witnesses is all around us. So let us throw off everything that stands in our way. Let us throw off any sin that holds on to us so tightly. And let us keep on running the race marked out for us. Let us keep looking to Jesus. He is the one who started this journey of faith. And he is the one who completes the journey of faith.’

The Christian life is described here as a race. It isn’t like a sprint, though – it’s more like a cross country race. It requires determination and perseverance. 

This morning the students were cheered on by staff and parents lining the track. When life gets tough, remember that we are surrounded by a heavenly cheer squad, encouraging us to persevere. How encouraging to know we don’t have to run this race alone!
