Middle School

From the Head of Middle School

During Values and Christian Studies this week, the Year Nines were asked to interact with a Junior School student and either play a game or teach them something new. They were buddied up with one or two students from Years Three, Four or Five, which meant they were not with a Year Nine friend and they had to be responsible for their actions. They had to be organised, know how to communicate, teach their skill and be encouraging. The experience was overwhelmingly successful as students fully engaged in the tasks for 30 minutes. Below are some comments from the Year Nine students:

  • “It was an amazing and immersing experience being able to interact with some of the Year 4s today. Having the opportunity to speak and laugh with some of the younger kids of GSG and experience their relaxed attitude to school and learning was wonderful.” - Chevy
  • “It was a very valuable experience that taught us the importance of engaging with others.” - Matilda
  • “It was really fun teaching and playing with the younger kids. They are actually pretty cool.” - Harry
  • “I had an amazing time with some of the Year 3 girls, they were so kind and especially talented at making beaded jewellery.” - Iris

Thanks to Mr Rose, Mr Raven and Mr McLean for organising this worthwhile experience.
