Endeavour Awards

This week at the Senior School Assembly students were presented with Endeavour Awards which acknowledges students’ effort in class to reach their potential.  In reading the Semester One reports, I regularly view the Indicators of Student Performance as this provides a summary of a student’s academic effort. We should not confuse effort with results as with effort comes personal success and achievement.  Congratulations to those students who received their Endeavour awards this week.

P&F Sundowner and Dr Craig Challen

We are very fortunate that the P&F have arranged for a unique guest speaker for the upcoming Sundowner. Dr Craig Challen was instrumental in the rescue of 13 people from the flooded cave in Thailand in 2018 and was the joint winner of the 2019 Australian of the Year.  Dr Challen was also awarded the Star of Courage and the Medal of the Order of Australia. A National Geographic documentary is set to be released on 22 September and he has a young readers book Against All Odds, which provides people with an insight into this historic event. The Sundowner will be held on Thursday 18 August from 5.30pm in the Pratten Centre. Dr Challen will then speak from 6.30pm in the Hall. The Sundowner will provide an opportunity for parents to mingle on a social basis, something we have been lacking this year. This is also a once in a lifetime opportunity to hear about Dr Challen’s real-life experience and values in action. Please refer to the P&F News section for more information and to RSVP.

Spirit of Grammar Scholarships

I am delighted to inform you that the Spirit of Grammar Scholarships, which commenced last year, will be offered again for 2023.  With the support of the School Council, the School is seeking new families who for financial reasons would not be able to join our community.  A change to the scholarship this year is the extension from Year One to Year Twelve and boarding students.  If you know of any family who may meet the criteria, please direct them to the School’s website or our Community Relations Manager, Mrs Julia Bairstow.
