Wellbeing Matters
Positive Futures Program at Beaumaris Secondary College
Positive Futures re-engages young people who have, or are at risk of, disengaging from their education, family and the broader community, including those who might also be at risk of homelessness and/or are exhibiting signs of trauma and distress.
We have been fortunate enough to have two youth workers placed at Beaumaris Secondary College this term, with the generous support and funding from The Les Twentyman Foundation. Maddy Dyson and Dan Joyce will be working within the wellbeing team one day a week on a Tuesday for the rest of 2022.
Through the Positive Futures Program, youth workers are embedded in schools and use early intervention strategies in a one-on-one, group workshop and outreach activities to strengthen young people’s mental health, confidence, resilience and emotional regulation.
The program aims to support young people to feel a part of a supportive community (school, community and/or home life) and to feel good about their future so they can be actively engaged in their personal growth.
If you feel that your child would benefit from working with our Youth Workers, please have a chat to your child’s GOAL mentor about this and they can make a referral to the Wellbeing Team at Beaumaris Secondary College.
