Specialist Feature News - Performing arts

JUNIOR PRODUCTION - A TIME FOR MUSIC

Rehearsals are well under way for the Foundation and Year 1/2 Production, 'A Time for Music'.  The production will be performed on Tuesday 13th September at Crossways Church in Burwood.  The students are busy singing, dancing and acting in order to be ready for the big night.  A note will go home later this week regarding costume requirements.  More information about ticketing, DVD purchasing, performance times and more will be sent out closer to the event. 

 

MOUNT PLEASANT'S GOT TALENT

A big congratulations to all the finalists who performed in MPGT last term.  The talent on display was outstanding, giving the judges a very hard job of choosing 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.  This week in assembly the medals will be given to the winners. 

Community connections

PACIFIC VIBES

This term the 3/4 students are focussing on dance and music from countries and islands from central and southern Pacific Ocean.  This includes, New Zealand, Samoa, Torres Strait, Fiji, Vanuatu and more. If there are any parents who have knowledge or skills from this area of the world and would like to share them with the students please contact me.

Indonesian Day 

Selamat siang!

A reminder that Indonesian Day is coming up on the 17th August! Students will be participating in a cultural incursion run by Sanggar Lestari as well as rotating through activities with teachers all about Indonesian. We ask that students wear traditional clothes (batik, sarong, etc) or merah and putih (red and white) clothes!

Performing Arts

Junior: Troy M (1/2K)

For demonstrating outstanding vocal skills when auditioning for a speaking part in the Junior Production.  Troys courage and talent shone through when speaking in front of the class. Well done! 

 

Senior: Jason J (3/4M)

For demonstrating knowledge and focus when contributing to class discussions about the Pacific islands. Your love of learning and passion for music is clear for all to see. Well done!

Physical Education

Junior: Lily S (1/2DT)

For demonstrating zest and a love of movement every week. You have made significant improvement with your movement skills, particularly when you are performing a sequence of movements. Outstanding Work Lily.

 

Senior: Kobi M (3/4C)

For his outstanding 800m run at Senior Athletics. You took on the challenge of a very tough race and displayed bravery and determination all the way to the finish line. What an absolute inspiration you are! Brilliant Effort Kobi.

Visual Arts

Junior: Liam W (1/2SS)

For demonstrating a love of learning and creativity when creating your paper bark using paint and materials. You worked hard to add detail using sponges, forks and brushes. Keep up the great work Liam!

 

Senior:  Indi P (5/6D)

For demonstrating perseverance when creating your Indonesian food sketch. You have shown focus and continue to work hard on your sketch throughout the draft and publishing process. Amazing work Indi! 

Indonesian

Junior:  Caleb G (FG)

For showing outstanding focus in class! You demonstrated your knowledge of different animals in Indonesian confidently and played each game with zest and a love of learning!

 

Senior: Tanmay S (3/4C)

For describing the pictures of fruits and vegetables in full sentences Indonesian! You showed excellent recall of your numbers, colours and food vocabulary. Hebat!
