Selamat siang!

What an amazing week to be fully back in the classroom! This week we had our Senior Athletics Carnival where all the students were excited to show their house spirit. We are so proud of everyone’s participation and it was lovely to see the development in their sport abilities and personal skills when competing in a range of activities including 100m sprints, discus and high jump.

In Maths, we focused on decimals, and in theme with our athletics carnival, we hosted the 3/4 Olympics. We measured distance and times when racing our robots through a range of different heats. They were challenged to order and compare decimals to show who came first, second and third.

In Writing, students developed their lovely 3-way conference slides to show their progress at our meetings this week. Students also have been practising planning a narrative as a team. They have used a range of planning strategies including mind maps and narrative story graphs to start developing their creative stories. Towards the end of the week, students started to write their narratives using their plan to focus on adding detail and describing the character, setting and actions using figurative language.

In Guided inquiry we continued our investigation into the forces through reflecting on our findings over the past three weeks. Students were able to look back at their findings, noticing and wonderings from our Wonder Wall and see if they now know more than they did when we started the term. Students were able to answer a range of questions including does gold stick to magnets, and what would happen if we didn’t have gravity.

This week we are continuing with our ICE program which will get us back into learning all our new activities. We will also be starting our multiplication unit in maths, so any extra practice at home is much appreciated!

Have a wonderful week,

Miss Chooi, Miss Richardson, Miss Wang, Mrs McCoy, Miss Tillotson and Miss Honan
