Warrell Fundraiser
Today Warrell held their Fundraiser footy match at lunch time. It was a free dress day with all students and staff wearing the colors of their favorite footy/sport team. Money was raised for the Eastern Emergency Relief Network.
The highlight of the day was the entertaining footy match at lunch which had the whole school watching on. The teams were made up of students and staff and it was great to see the game played competitively but also in good spirit. Well done Mr Andrew Smale (Head of Warrell) and the house leaders who put together a brilliant day raising money for a good cause.
Even though it was a charity match, it was evident both teams desperately wanted to win...
Year 7 Zoo Excursion
As part of the Classification and Ecology topics, the Year 7 Science students visited Werribee Open Range Zoo. Whilst there they learnt to identify different species from the adaptations seen in their skulls and teeth, and how these organisms rely on each other for their survival. The also rode on the Safari Bus to get an even closer look at some of the non-carnivorous animals.

Robert Newton Book Session
The Library staff were thrilled to welcome local author Robert Newton to the school on Wednesday, July 27th to present to our Year 7 students. The students are currently studying Robert’s novel Runner as part of the English curriculum. The atmosphere on the day was wonderful, with all the students eager to listen to Robert speak – and have their individual copies of the novel signed!
"To read a book is one thing, but to have the actual author there with us? The year seven English classes were gifted the opportunity to meet Robert Newton, the author of Runner. He gave us a tour of how he created the book; what his inspiration was, how the characters formed. Every little detail added more and more depth to the story. All of us were blown away with the monumental effort put into writing the one book, and it helped us gain a deeper appreciation for the novel itself. From the inspiration to the research, the plot, and the characters, the whole story was humming with fun and adventure. Thank you Mr. Newton!”

We are grateful to all the many different businesses that have opened their doors to our students for work experience. A special thanks to Mrs Howard, Mrs Deubel and the Year 10 Team for coordinating and visiting over 90 placements!
Snow at Huntingtower?
It's been a cold few weeks!
Thank you to the parent who sent in some photos of the frost last week, with freezing temperatures in the morning it almost look like we had a snowfall!
