Out Of School Hours Care

OHSC News

Wednesday 25th May, 2016

OSHC Program: This week’s focus has continued as ‘Nature’.  As the weather keeps changing,  the colours, temperatures and the environment has provided many different backdrops during recent times. The children have been  inspired to paint/draw and create a vast variety of artwork.

The children have also been using the lego to create different vehicles, dominos for counting, patterns and games, Uno cards for socialization and mathematics, and technology for recreation and homework.

Monday 16th May- we were very excited to receive a visit from Woodville Bunnings, to help educate the children on how to care for our OSHC garden. The children were split into two groups (by age) and took turns preparing, digging holes and planting various foods such as herbs, beans, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce and tomatoes. The children enjoyed their hands on experience using the gardening tools, wearing gardening gloves and discussing the different types of vegies with our helpers- Dina and Vince.

A number of students from the school community, including the reception students have taken an interest in our garden and have visited the area during the school day.  We appreciate the attention that our garden is getting and hope that anyone who stops by, remembers to respect our plants and property including its surroundings such as the bamboo. Unfortunately this has been damaged already and we are hoping it recovers quickly and will continue to grow in the future.
