Welcome Back

Welcome back to the start of the last term for 2020. The year has certainly passed us in a blink and here we are starting to consider end of year functions that will be different than we have ever experienced due to COVID.

The last term is always jammed packed with events. Some include Book Week, Sports Day, Torrens and Fisher Camp, excursions, 2021 Reception transition program, report writing, 2021 class placement, Year 7 Graduation, end of year events, new class visits just to name a few. At all times we will be working with the Department for Education to ensure we are following COVID Guidelines and will endeavour to have community involvement where possible. We appreciate everyones understanding with this complex situation.

This year, we will be having Sports Day on Thursday 5th November and the School Closure on Friday 6th November. This means there is no rush to get children up and ready for school the morning after a massive day.

The final Pupil Free Day has also been approved for Monday, 9th November. Teachers and leadership will be analysing whole school data, further developing our whole school teaching practices and planning for learning.

OSHC will be available on both days. Please see Kelly for bookings.

Sports Day

Our School Sports Day will be held on Thursday 5th November.  Sports Day will begin at 9:15 am, when students will make their way to the oval, to start with a whole school Health Hustle. Students are asked to come to school at the regular time and start the day in their classrooms.

As everyone would understand Sports Day is going to be a little bit different this year due to the COVID-19 Guidelines we need to follow. In consultation with Governing Council it has been decided to enable parents to attend. Sports Day is a major event in the LNPS Calendar and we would like to have parents/caregivers involved if we can despite the parameters we have placed on us.

The process to manage the movement of families and ensure contract tracing measures is a huge commitment and one we are happy to undertake in order to support our community and families. It is important to understand that the only reason we are committing to undertake all of this work is so families can attend Sports Day and see their kids, most importantly those who are experiencing their first Sports Day and those their last.

In line with COVID-19 management plans and guidelines from the Department for Education we can technically have a maximum of 1000 persons onsite at LNPS for Sports Day. This includes students and teachers. Taking that into consideration we will be able to offer 440 tickets to the school community. Further details regarding the ticketing process and how entry and exiting will occur will be emailed to families in the coming days.

As we are anticipating a 2:45pm finish on the day,  students may go home if their parents are in attendance. If this is the case please ensure you sign them out through their teacher.  Otherwise, they will return to their classrooms for a 3:10pm dismissal.

Further details regarding the day, ticketing and the Sports Day Program will be release in the near future.
