6S

Orientation Day

Most of us have just been to Tumbi Umbi High School for our first orientation day. We got to walk around the school and experience some of the lessons. Some of us completed a mixed media art work as well as play sport on their huge oval. We also completed a scavenger hunt by walking around the school to locate answers to complete a crossword.

Mini Fete

In class we have been busy preparing for the mini fete with Mr Griesser’s year 6’s. Firstly we had to write up a plan for what our activity is and how it would work, then we designed a poster to advertise our stall. Next we organised an equipment list and finally we prepared a plan for where our stalls will be placed on the day.

Graduation

As a whole Year 6 group we voted on the theme for the night with the winning theme being ‘Starry Night’. Now we are busy designing our graduation placemats that will be on our table on the night.

STEM

This term 6S have been doing a robotics unit for STEM. In the first few weeks we were introduced to a type of robot called Dashbots. Firstly we learnt how to control them as they had many moving parts. These parts included tripod feet, a head that moves in multiple directions, changing lights and voice commands. We also learnt how to code or program the robots to perform tasks. Finally we had to design our own robots that would perform a task to help people in the community. We then had to build a prototype out of Lego or cardboard.
