World Teachers’ Day

Friday October 30 was World Teacher’s Day.  A big thank you to our wonderful SASS staff who went to a lot of effort to organise our student leaders and recognise our teachers on this day.

NAIDOC Week

Usually NAIDOC week is in July, however due to COVID it has been delayed this year. Next week, we get to acknowledge the contribution of Aboriginal people to our local and national community. This year’s theme is, ‘Always Was, Always Will Be.’ The theme is about recognising that First Nations people have cared for this continent for over 65 000 years. Their connection to the land is deep, spiritual and cultural. The story of our nation began at the dawn of time and First Nations people were the custodians of the land. NAIDOC week is about celebrating that we have one of the oldest continuing cultures on Earth. More about NAIDOC week can be found at: https://www.naidoc.org.au/get-involved/2020-theme

The Aboriginal Education Committee has planned a number of activities during the next week to recognise and celebrate this week. Thank you to Miss Mahoney and Mrs Lemeki for their organisation.

We look forward to sharing this with you via Seesaw and Facebook.
