Asthma/Hayfever

During grass pollen season between October and December, there is an increased risk of seasonal asthma, hay fever and epidemic thunderstorm asthma.

It’s more important than ever for staff and students to manage any hay fever or asthma symptoms, as these conditions can produce symptoms that are similar to coronavirus (COVID-19) such as runny nose, cough or shortness of breath.

The best way to reduce and prevent symptoms of asthma or hay fever and reduce unnecessary absences from school is to follow an up-to-date asthma action plan or hay fever treatment plan. If you have any coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms, even mild, please stay home and get tested.

Asthma and Allergy Action Plans

These are the preferred plans that when filled in correctly help us manage your child's condition and lessen the likelihood of problems arising.

Asthma Plans need to be updated every 12 months and allergy plans every 2 years. It is the parents responsibility to make sure that the school has the latest information and organise your annual interview with the First Aid Officer to discuss how to manage your child's condition.

Symptoms can be mistaken for covid-19 so please inform the school if your child suffers from Asthma, Allergy or Hayfever.

Health Reminder

If you or your child is sick, stay home. Ring the Coronavirus hotline 1800 675 398 open 24 hours, 7 days for advice and testing locations. Any student displaying symptoms of respiratory illness whilst at school will be sent home.
