School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS)

CSPS Behaviour Matrix

What a wonderful start we have had as we have transitioned back into onsite learning. During this term  the teachers will be revisiting our Behaviour Matrix with the students. This is part of the school’s commitment to SWPBS (School Wide Positive Behaviour Support) The teachers and staff will be resetting the climate with the students and revisiting behaviour expectations. We are working towards a smooth term after what has been a very different Term 3.

Some of the activities that the students will be involved in include:

  • Watching school made videos of modelled expected behaviour.
  • Engaging in Cooperative Learning Activities which include Class Building and Team Building Activities.
  • Participating in lessons to teach our expected behaviours.
  • Reconnecting with their peers and teachers.
  • Positive Acknowledgements for the students.
  • Student of the Week Activities.

Respectful Relationships @ CSPS

Respectful Relationships is about tackling family violence through education.

Rosie Batty, CEO of the Luke Batty Foundation “the school community is an essential part of social reform by modelling a culture of respect through the whole school, not just by teaching respect in the classroom”.

At Cranbourne South,  Respectful Relationships Education will be taught through the Victorian curriculum. This initiative partners with SWPBS in teaching and modelling to our students positive behaviours and interactions that share a common purpose- To teach the students how to build healthy relationships, resilience and confidence.

In the classroom, children will learn problem-solving skills, to develop empathy, support their own wellbeing and build healthy relationships with others. The initiative will also provide resources to best support children and staff who are affected by family violence.

When children build positive relationships with their teachers and peers they feel safer and happier at school, are more resilient and have positive social attitudes. Positive relationships also increase a child’s sense of social connectedness and belonging which can result in better health and academic outcomes.

Further information about Respectful Relationships is available on the Department of Education and Training website: www.education.vic.gov.au/respectfulrelationships

These age-appropriate and evidence based materials are designed to enable teachers to develop student’s social and emotional capabilities to promote positive, healthy and respectful relationships.
