P to the E with Leigh

Welcome back to school everyone and well done. I was so impressed with the work by the children and their families in completing and uploading tasks online. The main focus of the school was to get the kids engaged with learning online and becoming familiar with the google classroom and seesaw.

The focus for Physical Education this term will be firstly about supporting the children’s welfare by reinforcing the routines and establishing class cohesion and supporting each other in lessons.

The Foundation and 1/2s children have been working this week with familiar games mostly focused on non-competitive sports. I will continue to build up fitness and routine as the children work towards small sided games.

The 3/4 s have also been supported in transitioning back to school and routines playing familiar small sided games that build group support and rapport.

The 5/6s children will also be focused on group cooperation and will be playing timetabled games on Friday afternoons. Mostly traditional sports they would have been playing in the Inter School Competition. Games like soccer, cricket and basketball and then rotating new games as the term progresses.

The book day sums up Thornbury’s unique flavour that is Art Music, Sport, learning and having fun.
