LIBRARY NEWS

Just a friendly reminder to all Parents/Carers about library books.

The end of 2020 is fast approaching and we are missing many library books.

If you have a library book at home, in the car or behind the couch please return them to school as soon as possible.

City of Darebin

Now that all primary schools kids have returned to school, Darebin’s crossing supervisors are back at work and excited to see you and your kids again after such a long break. Please say hi to them when you get a chance.

Council staff have begun to enforce parking restrictions to keep everyone safe on their way to and from school, in line with advice from the Government. We’re policing restrictions around schools from now on, so please obey the signs, use the Kiss and Go areas, and keep everyone safe.

Gardening

This term in Gardening the Prep- 2 will be reconnecting with our growing gardens of the

school. The Prep- 2 have been extra excited to get busy in the garden, it has been fabulous

watching them get stuck into weeding and composting and loving up our school grounds.

They have also been munching on parsley and lettuce. We have been getting on top of our

compost and giving them some love. We have already been  emptying some of the delicious compost that has been decomposing over the year and feeding it into our garden beds to plant our hot season crops, such as zucchini and tomatoes.

Our First Nations food, fibre and medicine gardens have grown a lot out the front of the school and we are looking forward to doing some murnong and chocolate lilly harvesting as part of NAIDOC week. If anyone in our school community wants some river mint, we have heaps out the front, all you need is a little piece with some roots attached, then plant it and keep it wet. More than enough for everyone! Soon, the yellow lady beetles arrive, which will be exciting! We are all on a look out.
