Selamat Siang Foundation Families and Friends,

We had a fantastic first week back to onsite learning in the Discovery Centre! We extend our thanks to our families for all of their support in helping the Foundation Students adjust back to onsite learning.

Last week in Math Sessions students solved various addition and subtraction problems by choosing 'Good-fit strategies' to best help them demonstrate their working out and explain their learning. Students were so excited to solve their classmate's stories using their chosen strategies! Students also enjoyed Maths Activities including 'Doubles' and 'Race to 10'. The Discovery Centre will be focusing on Capacity this week in Maths.

In English, students used their imagination to write a Silly Sentence! Students focused on sizing their letters on the dotted thirds in their writing books. We were so impressed at their stamina and focus used when writing out their sentences! The Foundation Student's creativity continued to flow when writing about their 'Dream Milkshake'. Some students created mouth-watering combinations and worked hard to add details into their writing, to best describe their delicious milkshakes! Students also used creativity to draw a picture to match their writing. For Reading Group Rotations, students worked hard to respond to texts, through spotting various Codes and drawing their favourite characters. Speaking and Listening skills will be a focus through our Sharing Times, which will start in the Discovery Centre this week.

As part of our Indigenous Perspectives Unit, students in the Discovery Centre will be contributing to create their class 'Acknowledgement of Country'. Students are working to recreate the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flag out of materials from around the classroom to accompany our acknowledgement. Students will also continue to learn more about Indigenous Perspectives, Construction  and Well-being throughout the term through Guided Inquiry.
