From Principal Team

There is a sense of celebration in the air as the school council sponsored special treats start to kick in. In what has been a hard year for learning our staff and students have made choices in how they will celebrate their growth and achievements:

The calendar of celebration on Primary is:

Prep Fri 20th NovPJ Dress up and Teddy Bear Picnic
Year 1 Thur 3rd DecDinner
Year 2Fri 20th NovPJ Disco and Movie Night
Year 3Fri 13th NovFun Day
Year 4Fri 13th NovFun Day
Year 5Thur 10th DecCelebration Day
Year 6Thur 10th DecStem Day

We hope you enjoy.

We are also planning a celebration of Music with demonstrations of instruments by our talented music staff followed by a lunchtime of busking opportunities for students in Year P - 5. This fundraising effort, gold coin donation, is to go to our inspirational Jayne Barker who has over the past five years donated twenty keyboards to students to open the doors to music as a through line to learning.

See poster later in the newsletter.

Date: December 3rd

And finally, we hope to acknowledge and formally farewell Chris Beare - stay tuned for how our students will send her off with the sparkle and zappa we know her for.

2020 has proved to be full of challenges and many of us have supported and assisted many in our community. We would like to continue to support The Lakes Family so we will have a Christmas Hamper Drive collecting goods to parcel up and distribute in our own community. If you are in a position to send something, that would be great. Dec 3rd will be the day.

In the secondary area there are also many signs of change. There appear to be number of families moving to new addresses and others trying to match learning and career pathways. Many of our older students have found the return to school extremely challenging and we are all working to encourage smart choices and being respectful to each other.

Tension and snap decisions are causing concern on both campuses. Please take some time to talk about some strategies to take charge of your actions. I remind all families violence through hitting, punching or abuse will not be tolerated and return to school safety plans will need to be negotiated if your child makes poor choices.

The Lakes South Morang is a safe space, and we rely on your support to maintain this environment.

In closing, I would like to thank the community members, who made calls to police after hours, when a number of groups chose to party in our grounds. We genuinely appreciate your efforts.

Looking forward to a weekend of sunshine and fun family time.

Stop Press

With so much going to happen on Dec 3rd, I think it needs to be an out of uniform day with  a music theme so let’s make it easy and just wear something that makes you feel good - either the name of your favourite song or instrument pinned or stuck to your back. Let’s party Folks!
