Hola Mornings & Transition

Not one, but two!

It was with some excitement, and a little trepidation, that our children jumped into "Hola Morning" number one.  Some children moved rooms while others stayed put and welcomed new faces into their rooms. Today we celebrated "Hola Morning" number two.

Kindergarten:

Over two afternoons we met excited and nervous children who quickly engaged with their new learning space and teachers. There were laughs, questions and wonder. We enjoyed sharing stories, exploring Bush School and most of all meeting some other children.

The teachers are pleased to have had time to learn more about the children and begin building the Kinder community for next year. We are always so pleased to see children engage with our learning space, our teachers and to share their deep curiosity

Lighthouse:

The next set of Lighthouse Keepers were ready to explore their new room. During Choosing time the children jumped into the costume shop and theatre, turned their hands at some making and to block building. They gathered on the steps for a story before returning to their friends in the Kindergarten.

Loft Room:

It was wonderful to sit in a big circle and see the faces of all the Lofties for 2021. Stories were shared and the children explored the room during Choosing time. Together the children and teachers had Fruit on the deck before heading off to play.

Hola Morning #1 also provided an opportunity for children and parents to meet Nanaki Kaur, who will be joining Paul in the Loft Room next year. Nanaki is currently teaching at Fairfield P.S. and is both an early childhood and primary trained educator. Her passion is working with children in grades one and two. Nanaki was unable to join us for Hola Morning #2 as she needed to support her current students as they prepare for transition also.

Sunroom:

The children in the Sunroom had a chance to try out the schools fanciest couches, and try their hand at a drawing exercise; contour drawing with eyes closed. For Hola #2 they used wire to create a model from their drawing.

Peppercorns

The children who will be the Biggies in 2021 shared a morning meeting before setting off on a parachute construction challenge? Biggies as Biggles perhaps?

We were unable to invite children who will be joining our primary school from other schools and kindergartens. In the first weeks of 2021, we will work tirelessly to ensure that the focus is on fostering friendships and a sense of belonging for all our children.

These transition mornings are designed to help support children on their journey through kindergarten and school.  Transition is a process, and if you have concerns, or would like to discuss how we can best support your child as they get ready for 2021, as always, don't hesitate to be in touch.
