On Saturday 8th August, parishioners gathered to commemorate St Mary of the Cross MacKillop (1842-1909).  It was so lovely to see some families from St Joseph's School join in this celebration of Mass and the blessings and induction of new members of the Josephite Associates.  This group began in our parish by Sister Therese Conroy RSJ (pictured to the left of Fr Vic) and, although a small group, these dedicated ladies and gentlemen quietly go about their way in our community visiting the sick, the lonely and those needing help as well as providing faith support in our local schools and teaching with our own St Joseph's teachers during Sacramental Programs.

Prayer to St Joseph

Father, you entrusted our Saviour

To the care of St Joseph

By the help of his prayers, may our Josephite family

Continue to serve its Lord, Jesus Christ,

Who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

One God forever and ever.  Amen.

Mass this Friday 14th August will be attended by students K-6, whilst observing social distancing guidelines from parishioners, to celebrate the Assumption of Mary (15th August).  Parents and friends are warmly invited to attend this celebration.  Please remember to sign the register at the front door to St Brigid's Church and follow the current rules for health and safety of all in our community.

The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (August 15) celebrates the entry of Mary into heaven, body and soul. The belief that Mary’s body (as well as her soul) was “assumed” into heaven was defined as a dogma (core belief of the faith) by Pope Pius XII on November 1, 1950, in the Apostolic Constitution Munificentissimus Deus, but belief in the Assumption of Mary dates back to the earliest centuries of the Church.

Reminder:   The Sacrament of Reconciliation is still going ahead at this stage, as planned, for Term 4. Registration paperwork will be sent home shortly to those families involved. Please contact the school if you have any questions or would like to know more information about this, or any other part of the Catholic faith.

God bless,

Mrs Wendy Rheinberger
