Physical Education

This week week in the Senior School we are continuing our athletics unit. I decided that it was probably best to revisit all four of our athletics events this week - long jump, triple jump, shot put and discus. I hope that all senior students are able to have a go at each, as next week will be when we look at assessing our knowledge.

The Junior students will be continuing to work on the Fundamental Movement Skill of catching. I was really impressed with the work students put in last week. It would be ideal if the students had objects both large and small to catch.

Physical Education Awards

Senior: Sukriti K (5/6W)

Sukriti, you really impressed me with your attention to detail in performing our athletics activities this week, particularly the shot put. You demonstrated a great understanding of grip, positioning and had a fantastic putting technique of the shot. Keep up the amazing work!

Junior: Karmveer R (1/2E)

You have been an absolute PE star over the past 3 weeks, Karmveer! You make sure to follow all instructions demonstrate a high ability in all that you do. Your catching and throwing activity with your mum was a big highlight! Well done!

Visual Arts

This coming week we will find resources for sculpting in our kitchen drawers. Artists have been very resourceful in using what is available in times of scarcity. Last week we saw some outstanding examples of resourceful art created by the Australian artist Pete Rush, who created amazing sculptures from beach flotsam and jetsam. Our F – 2 students were using this as their inspiration to create some magic of their own - making wizard and fairy wands.

Super effort!

Performing Arts

Wow! What a week we had last week.  The Year 5/6 students started working on their TV advertisements ready to be judged by their teachers.   The four advertisements deemed to be the most persuasive in selling their products will be uploaded into next weeks Newsletter. Good-luck and may the power of persuasion be on your side!

Year 3/4 showed their ability to play complex rhythms in time with music and will continue their learning with a new set of plate rhythms and beats to learn this week.

Year 1/2 blew us away with their creativity, character acting and digital skills when completing their favourite fairy tale scenes.  From The Big Bad Wolf to Harry Potter we were thoroughly entertained. They will continue to work on character building techniques this week with a particular acting focus.

The Foundation students sang their hearts out to the song, 'Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better', whilst expressing the feeling word of the week, 'jealousy'.

Senior Choir

At Fridays assembly you would have heard the beautiful Senior Choir singing True Colours.  The Senior Choir did not meet up and sing or sing online to record this song. Each student recorded themselves individually and sent me the audio file which was collated into one track.  I am very proud of the students to have courage to record themselves without guidance from a conductor.  If you missed their performance piece here it is for you to watch it again.

Whole School Dance

Here is a new whole school dance for the whole family to join in with. Have fun dancing together!

Performing Arts Awards -

Senior: Daniel S (3/4D)

For demonstrating outstanding musical ability when performing rhythms in time with the 'Dance of Sugar Plum Fairy'. Well done!

Junior: The Smith Family (Isla, Oscar and Cadie)

For creating an epic combination of scenes from 'Beauty and the Beast'.  They demonstrated outstanding commitment to their roles, resulting in a wonderful performance piece.

Indonesian

Selamat siang semuanya!

Minggu ini, I would like to give a HUGE shout out to our brilliant kelas 3/4! Please have a scroll through these truly outstanding batik designs - I just wish I could have included everyone's! These designs show phenomenal kreativitas, patience and perseveranceas well as including various patterns found in batik, such as repeated patterns, circles within circles, focus pieces of plants or animals, and a consistent colour palette.

Terima kasih,

Hebat, Emily! I was really impressed this week, because you not only designed a brilliant piece of batik, you also immediately responded to the feedback I gave you and improved your design by adding additional batik elements. Rajin sekali!

Junior: Tim C (1/2B)

This week you developed a truly outstanding mini-story about you and your sister. You followed the story structure incredibly well, with an introduction of character, a problem and a solution. Impressively, you showed humour and connectives. Hebat, Tim!

Junior: Taj F (1/2O)

Taj, I am incredibly impressed with the way you were able to translate the story of Peter Rabbit into Indonesian using our mini story structure! It was clearly recognisable and showed brilliant kreativitas! Hebat!
