Leadership Centre

Curriculum

It was another week of success in the Leadership Centre and we are all extremely grateful for the perseverance and love of learning displayed by our students. The final years of primary school are so vital to our young people as they begin to establish their identity and solidify friendships made in previous years. We encourage students to join the 1pm lunchtime zooms as a means of connecting with their peers and enjoy some social time together! Details of these zooms will be posted on each class’ google classroom stream on these days. We are now cooking each Tuesday and started last week with Anzac and Chia biscuits. A list with what students need for the weekly cook will be posted on the Friday before. Week 6 promises to be an amazing week with lots of opportunities to engage with our wonderful MPRPS community. Have a read below!

STEM week

Across MPRPS this week, we will celebrate all things STEM. Our Senior students will participate in a range of daily activities where they will explore their inner scientist. During Week 5 students were asked to gather ingredients and items to ensure they are ready to enjoy the experiments. There are plenty of opportunities for families to be involved in Science week. Have a read at the points below;

  • Tuesday August 18th Online Maths Morning 10.30am
  • Wednesday August 19th Spot the Maths due 5pm

Maths

This week in Maths students will design a ‘Housing Estate portfolio’. This project will run for the week with students completing different components of the portfolio each day. Following the detailed design brief, students will create a Housing Estate portfolio, selecting from the given criteria. The project will focus on the Measurement strands of Area and Perimeter as well as revising over mathematical concepts learnt this term. This task when completed will be uploaded to Seesaw as a portfolio. Looking forward to seeing our future town planners get to work!

Literacy

Book club this term has been a great success with students collaboratively working in small groups via the Zoom breakout rooms. We know our students are missing working with their peers, bouncing ideas off each other. This 30 minutes in the morning is a great opportunity for students to be involved in working with peers. Students will continue to work in these small groups during this week, exploring their selected texts as well as completing writing and VCOP activities as literacy warm ups and cool downs.

Reminders

  • Please check-in with your child throughout to ensure they are engaging in learning tasks and that they are using their devices appropriately.
  • Pre-recorded video of each day’s agenda plus each day's daily slides will be posted by 8:30am. It is important that students watch the agenda video so they have a sound understanding of the daily tasks.
  • If your child will be absent from learning or Zoom sessions, please notify your classroom teacher or the office as usual.
  • For daily fitness, students will select an activity from their choice board.
  • Families who have not yet received a refund for the Maths Challenge please contact the office as soon as possible.
