Pastoral Care News

Welcome back to what will be another busy term here at MCC. I hope that the holiday period provided opportunity for everyone to relax and catch up with family and friends before the return of restrictions. We welcome several new families to our school community and hope that you and your child find the transition not too stressful. Please feel free to contact any of the staff if you have any issues or concerns.

Next week the Community Action Team will finalise plans for the launch of their term 3 activity. “I CARE KITS” This year more than ever, there are many people within our community who are displaced, at risk of; or who are homeless.

We ask all students to please support our major activity for the term and donate the following item from the list according to your year level and gender.

The donated goods will be used to create kits that will be donated to St Vincent de Paul and LCN (Women’s Refuge & Youth Refuge) who will distribute to those in need.

As the name suggests, these kits symbolize that someone does indeed care. Your kindness is greatly appreciated.

Students are asked to please bring donated items to their homeroom where they will be collected by a COMMUNITY ACTION TEAM member.

COLLECTIONS WILL TAKE PLACE~ MONDAY 10th AUGUST to FRIDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER

This week saw the return of our knitting group. The group meets every Wednesday and we are always welcoming new members. No experience is necessary and yarn and needles are provided. Thank you to the many staff members who have donated their time, resources and mentored the group; particularly Mrs Farrugia and Mrs Sartor. Without such support extra-curricular activities such as this would not be possible. The group knit small squares that are joined together to create a blanket or wrap which is distributed to those in need.

Volunteers are once again required for CAREVAN cooking Wednesday 12th August. We have a new recipe to try and welcome volunteers at lunchtime or recess. An announcement will be emailed to students as the date draws nearer.

Thank you to families who have donated uniform items to our clothing pool. We can never have enough and are accessing goods on a regular basis. If your child requires assistance or additional items please do not hesitate to contact me.

I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend; stay safe and stay warm
