PRESIDENTS REPORT 2019/2020

With a slightly disrupted end to the 2019/20 P&F Committee Year, being in isolation and following social distancing rules, I have had time to reflect upon the busy year we have just been through.

The P&F Committee is always working hard behind the scenes of the College hustle and bustle, fundraising, running the Uniform shop and helping Fran with the Canteen, a successful Debutante Ball, and generally pitching in to help with random activities such as BBQs, Walkathon, Music evenings, etc. We have a wonderful dedicated Committee who always put a lot of work into these activities.

I would like to say “Thank you” to all the P&F Committee members who have taken the time out of their busy lives to attend meetings, helped with requests of all kinds and assisted with fundraising activities. I would like to especially thank our 2019/20 Executive team:

  • Secretary Catherine Riseley
  • Treasurer Tracey Mildenhall
  • Sarah Wolf as our representative on the College Advisory Board, and Sharron Stephens for representing the P&F when Sarah resigned her position
  • Fran Backman as Canteen Manager
  • Uniform Shop Co-ordinator Catherine Riseley
  • Donna Wylie and Sibby Wilson as Deb Ball organisers

Also, Julie Schnoor and Belinda Brennan for their continued inputs to the Committee at meetings and College events. I truly appreciate all of you stepping up and volunteering your time and expertise to the smooth running of the Committee and our endeavours throughout the year.

Some of the P&F's achievements this past year include;

  • Pie Drive, thanks to Sarah Wolf for organising
  • Debutante Ball with 28 couples. Thanks to Donna Wylie and Sibby Wilson (when Donna W was away) for coordinating this huge event
  • Purchase of Easter Egg baskets for prizes in Year level special draw for Easter celebrations. Thanks to Sharron Stephens for putting these together
  • Annual Christmas Raffle, with donations from generous businesses
  • Swimming and Athletics Sports Day BBQ fundraisers
  • Volunteers helping with BBQ on Walkathon Day
  • Supplying morning tea for staff at the College in celebration of World Teachers Day on Oct 25, 2019. A small appreciation for all they do for students at the College
  • Running of the Uniform Shop and assisting Fran in the Canteen
  • Michael's IGA Leongatha and Korumburra Community Rewards $2060 cheque Thank you to Michael's Supa IGA for their Community Rewards program, and to the shoppers who donate their points to MMCRC. It is a great contribution to our fundraising for the year
  • Ordering of the new, warmer sports soft shell jacket (thanks to Carly Kitchingman for all her wonderful work in this project)
  • BBQ for Instrumental evening and Tournament of Minds Group

THANK YOU…

It is such a wonderful feeling to know that there are a lot of parents, friends and staff of the College out there willing to step up and lend a hand if the need arises.

Thank you to all the Committee members, parents and carers, and staff in our school community who have been involved in many of our activities, especially those who volunteer their time to help out in the Canteen and Uniform Shop, and participation in our fundraising opportunities throughout the year, whether it be selling or buying raffle tickets, helping at BBQs, buying pies, every little (or big) contribution goes a long way! And there have been many, many wonderful and willing parents who did volunteer to help out this year! I thank you for your enthusiasm and hope it continues into the current year.

To the ever-efficient office staff who help in the background of all our events, and never complain when I request their assistance, your hard work is greatly appreciated. Also, for helping out in Uniform shop during our social isolation timing!

And once again the P&F has had full support from our Principal, David Leslie and acting Principal Kieran O’Dwyer, and the Advisory Council.

We would love to see some new faces at our P&F meetings this year and into the future. The current Committee are due to pass the reigns onto new College community members, as our children are all due to finish their schooling next year. I highly recommend any and all parents getting involved in the P&F, whether that be by nominating for (and possibly joining) the Executive Committee, or participating in the discussions at General Meetings and volunteering to help with events and activities.

Best wishes for another successful year to come.
