Principal's Message

Mr David Leslie

Happy Feast Day!

Mary MacKillop’s Feast Day was Saturday 8 August. The Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop is usually our College’s big day of celebration, with Mass, the annual Walkathon and fun and games afterwards. This year, like so many other things, is different. We still marked the occasion – Mr Ryan prepared a short video with the College Captains and Justice Captains, which was viewed across the College during an extended online homeroom on Monday. Along with a video prepared by a number of AJASS Schools – JJAMM Jingle which was put together to celebrate the Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop.

Thank you to everyone for the way you have set about the return to Remote Learning. We appreciate everyone doing their part to stay home and stay safe. I want to encourage all our students, especially Year 12's, to keep doing the best you can. Everyone in Victoria is facing the same circumstances, so even though it is different, there is no reason to think you will be worse off compared to others. Your teachers are working hard to help you and keep you on track. You need to keep doing your part and trust that all will be well.

Supervision continues for a very limited selection of children of permitted workers. These requirements can change with little notice from Government. Thank you to those families who have been completing the online forms and applications. The aim is that everyone who can learn from home, does learn from home, in order to minimise opportunities for the Covid-19 virus to spread. We are doing all we can to keep up safe practices at school for those who are here. Thank you for doing your part.

Please note that this Friday 21st August 2020 is a Student Free Day. Teachers will be using the day to prepare the next rounds of remote learning.

There will be no buses running and no classes for students. This is a good opportunity for students to have some time away from computer screens. It is a chance to have some fresh air and exercise, and to help out around your homes, which I am sure you are doing already.

Wishing all of our families good health and happiness.
